it's not the only bad thing about it, but this shit also completely ruins the culture of fandom by turning it into a side hustle. it's like being at a party where half of the guests want to use it as a chance to shill their multi-level marketing garbage
Publishers being open about this sort of thing — instead of treating it as an IYKYK open secret — feels like an extremely bad development
If the publishers are going to talk about it, why is everyone acting so hush hush?
