I think it works just the opposite way. If steam boxes catch on, then developers will want their stuff to work on them, and therefore improve their linux support. In fact this is what we have already seen with steam deck.

and don't get me wrong I am all in favor of abolishing single-private-ownership but it feels a little disingenuous to answer this scenario with "well it IS possible actually we just have to abolish capitalism first". like that's a big step we can't pretend it's not a big step

right and that monopoly arises because they share a physical location which is owned by a single unified entity, the arena-or-what-have-you, which means to break the monopoly we either need the Unified Place to no longer have a single private owner, or break the laws of spacetime.
