Took the week off because it’s been a busy couple of months and I needed a break. I decided to use it to turn some FB marketplace velvet into a Ms. Frizzle costume. This is an unstaged photo of my workspace right now. Things are…a lot…but some things are still good.

Perfect is all too often the enemy of good. Now to harvest this frame…. (Sorry, original maker. I assume that you, like me, hope your makes will be enjoyed once you’re done with them. If it comes off in decent shape, I’ll find it a new home!)

Idk how active the needlepoint community is here on Bluesky (the demographic Venn diagram probably barely brushes) but in case you’re out there, fellow needlepointers… we take a lot of flack from eachother about the right way to finish things, but peep this finished cross stitch I thrifted.

Finally, one of these little ragamuffins, as yet unnamed, is coming home with us. A tenant at my mom’s apartment complex was arrested, leaving behind three cats - including this pregnant one! Now there are 6 mini-hers running around :).

Ms. Agatha, queen of the house at the ripe old age of 1. She arrived via stork…or hawk, maybe? The open wound on her neck when she was found under my mom’s car at 4 weeks old says something rough. Now she has hand made blankets just for her.

This is Spaetzle. He’s two and he’s only sad in this picture because he *really* wants to be picked up and given a million smoochies. Problem is he always wants that…

This is Cannoli. He’s 4 and yes his fur does flow in the gentlest of breezes like he’s in a Mariah Carey video.

When I got home, I put them on my kitchen counter and….folks, I like what I like, okay?

Forgive the bad photo but if you’re mourning the loss of Joann for local apparel fabric options, here’s a reminder to consider your local thrift! I popped in ours the other day and purchased a linen duvet (7y x 55”) and 3 cotton curtains (4.33yx42” and 68”x68”).

Cut up a handknit sweater I over felted and made slippers…then made cat toys with the scraps 😍

I’m seam ripping Velcro from my nephew’s baseball uniform so I can hem his pants for him and noticed the saddest thing: The original sewist of these pants - who was absolutely a person - had to seam rip the Velcro once before. For like .15 cents an hour.

Today in Joy: Decided I was ready to take on the care of a third live plant (context: I used to have dozens and then I got dogs) and went looking for the pinkest one I could find that wouldn’t kill the cat, then painted an old pot with acrylic paint (because duh).

A lot of progress when you consider that each of those beads is individually hand sewn. And just as soon as this one is done…I have three more to make!

Today in dopamine: beaded curtain tiebacks.

Oh, y’all probably wanna see the (semi finished) version. I have some mini pom trim I’ll put around the edges of all the purple fabric to cover the staples but I wanted her to get to play with it (and I wanted to get back to my mother in law’s quilt).

Today’s project: Reupholstering a cat tree to cover the garish red faux fur for my spooky little baby. 🥰

Are you ever doing something and having just the best time…but then you stop and go “Yeah, that autism diagnosis isn’t really a surprise…”

Two and a half hours later, the binding has been hand tacked to the front of the quilt and she’s in the washer!

It’s amazing what you can get done when you wake up at 4AM and can’t get back to sleep. My father in law was diagnosed with cancer last week and while we await staging and a treatment plan, I am starting on his chemo quilt.
