In other news, I’m about to find out if you can use a blending board for a needle board to iron velvet because this fusible interfacing is not about to become sew on interfacing in my hands.

Took the week off because it’s been a busy couple of months and I needed a break. I decided to use it to turn some FB marketplace velvet into a Ms. Frizzle costume. This is an unstaged photo of my workspace right now. Things are…a lot…but some things are still good.

Idk how active the needlepoint community is here on Bluesky (the demographic Venn diagram probably barely brushes) but in case you’re out there, fellow needlepointers… we take a lot of flack from eachother about the right way to finish things, but peep this finished cross stitch I thrifted.

I would just like to take a moment to remind you all that Charlie Kirk never approved of empathy.

No need to bend over backwards here.

I’m not gonna say there was a right or easy way for Fletcher to do this but I’m not sure the melancholy tone and fear of persecution really hit during pride month the way she hoped they would. Maybe July would’ve been better? Or maybe a song celebrating discovering further identity instead of /

Bought some spray paint (and bonding primer - I already have deglosser, relax) to repaint our laminate nightstands to better match our bedroom until such time as the right antiques come around to match the rest of the set. Consulted the Pinterest color palette, grabbed a couple of cans….

One thing I do find myself missing about TikTok is that it had the wisdom not to show me men doing thirst traps at any time. Bluesky, when are you gonna get the discover page to sort that out?

Forgive the bad photo but if you’re mourning the loss of Joann for local apparel fabric options, here’s a reminder to consider your local thrift! I popped in ours the other day and purchased a linen duvet (7y x 55”) and 3 cotton curtains (4.33yx42” and 68”x68”).

Cut up a handknit sweater I over felted and made slippers…then made cat toys with the scraps 😍

I’m seam ripping Velcro from my nephew’s baseball uniform so I can hem his pants for him and noticed the saddest thing: The original sewist of these pants - who was absolutely a person - had to seam rip the Velcro once before. For like .15 cents an hour.

Today in Joy: Decided I was ready to take on the care of a third live plant (context: I used to have dozens and then I got dogs) and went looking for the pinkest one I could find that wouldn’t kill the cat, then painted an old pot with acrylic paint (because duh).

One of the silver linings of late-diagnosis is that I learned so many great coping skills during my years of being forced into pseudo normalcy the diagnosis is all relief and no bummer. I learned to be fine with mistakes and manage meltdowns before I knew why my reactions were so strong.

My kingdom for @baldwin.senate.gov to get herself to the floor to ask Cory Booker some questions. He did such great work on Education in Newark - surely Wisconsin can learn from some of it! I’ve given both of them $$$$ throughout their careers and they should BOTH speak for me today.

A lot of progress when you consider that each of those beads is individually hand sewn. And just as soon as this one is done…I have three more to make!

Oh, y’all probably wanna see the (semi finished) version. I have some mini pom trim I’ll put around the edges of all the purple fabric to cover the staples but I wanted her to get to play with it (and I wanted to get back to my mother in law’s quilt).

Today’s project: Reupholstering a cat tree to cover the garish red faux fur for my spooky little baby. 🥰

Last time this year, I weighed 355lbs. This morning, I just put on a dress I grabbed based on the size on the paper tag without realizing my XL was mistagged and *actually* a large. I’m wearing it. Cuz it fits. Protein, man. Wild.

Are you ever doing something and having just the best time…but then you stop and go “Yeah, that autism diagnosis isn’t really a surprise…”

Two and a half hours later, the binding has been hand tacked to the front of the quilt and she’s in the washer!

It’s amazing what you can get done when you wake up at 4AM and can’t get back to sleep. My father in law was diagnosed with cancer last week and while we await staging and a treatment plan, I am starting on his chemo quilt.
