This nativity set belonged to my great grandmother, then my grandmother, and then my mother, and now it is my tradition to make sure it is displayed each Christmas. A thing that amazes me is that one of the Wiseman has dark skin. How he survived the Jim Crow era is a miracle.

So, yesterday, I mixed the custard for the pumpkin pie with an electric hand mixer that I used as a 12 y/o making cakes in my mom's kitchen. 50 years later, this mixer is still making pie, while the less than 10y/o microwave warmed it's last cold coffee yesterday. #irony.
