The Rosehips, 1986. Ant in the middle here left this world 15 years ago today. Fondly remembered, much missed but still with us all in so many small ways. Now playing one of the Husker Du records we used to enjoy together.

The thousand yard stare of a schnauzer who spent most of last night cowering behind the settee like a seven year old watching the green death maggots on Doctor Who.

A very minor irritant in the scheme of things but I do wish they’d thought a bit more about this pub sign down the road. Locals are a sub-group of pubs so ‘pub & local’ makes no sense. I suppose I should be grateful I haven’t got anything important to worry about.

Don’t think this fella’s quite 50 but he’s certainly served me well down the years.

The Average White Band packed up in 2023 and the implications are still sinking in.

As much as I love this pub, and I really do, I’m not bringing my blummin records along.

The Much Better Half has been advising me to read this for about 35 years so as I’m always one to do what I’m told I’ve spent this week doing just that. A right riveting gothic page-turner it is as well. Should have read it 34 and a half years ago.

The building in the background with green windows is an excellently stocked public lending library so I would respectfully suggest that Norma’s books are neither the cheapest nor the latest books in town.

He’s seen me sitting here to have my tea so guess what he thinks that means…

Bill’s had his hair cut today as well.

Not guilty Mairi. Yours will have been much better quality than this cheapo from the market.

Me from another era etc. I think this was 1989 or 1990. I have precisely no memory of ever owning a bright green polo shirt but here we are.

I dunno, as warnings go I think it’s actually pretty basic.

As an admirer rather than an aficionado I suppose 730 pages of Wellerchat is a bit much but there is certainly much of interest here and as a result I’ve found myself checking out his later solo stuff which is a lot more fun than I imagined.

It was a real pea-souper in the potteries first thing this morning but half an hour up the road in Dovedale it was all about the God Light.

It’s always a shame when these neat little badges start to go rusty. It’s like the oxidisation of your memories or summat. But then a flower is only beautiful because it dies, as Tony Wilson once quoted somebody else as saying.
