I’m relying on textbook rules of pronunciation rather than geography but at the end of the day it’s not something I’m going to take to the barricades about 🙂

To make it ‘scon’ you’d need one of these French things ^ on top. I think I learned that at very much not-posh middle school.

At our very much not-posh primary school we were taught about the magic E (no not that one, this was the early 1970s) so yes it rhymes with cone.
