Felt like -15 F at the MN State Fair’s Ice Castles last night with the family, so I figured it’d be a good place to do a little proselytizing for the lizard cult (since @leder.games is just down the road, after all). The little Frost monsters loved the rainbow slides and ice dragon eggs!

Throwback to ten minutes ago when life was chrome and my Big Rig was unblemished. Two earthquakes later (which served to kill THREE of my wife’s pesky bikes) and I was forced to drive through two hazards (with no more lane changes) and took the final damage from her spiteful air strike. My daughter just got a glow in the dark pillowcase and black light pen from her uncles and she was ecstatic. She drew all through storytime and I told her she could use it a _little_ afterward. 20” later, she’s found and recharged everything that glows and been practicing stencils like Banksy 🤣

Well, that’s another L in @drandagames.bsky.social absolute banger Explorers of Navoria (partner and I are now at 2 each). I absolutely love the look, the feel, and the “I JUST WANNA DO MORE ACTIONS” vibe of this game. There hasn’t been a single era 3 that hasn’t elicited “noooooo” from us both. 😭

Well, that’s another L in @drandagames.bsky.social absolute banger Explorers of Navoria (partner and I are now at 2 each). I absolutely love the look, the feel, and the “I JUST WANNA DO MORE ACTIONS” vibe of this game. There hasn’t been a single era 3 that hasn’t elicited “noooooo” from us both. 😭
I enjoyed easily my most board gamey Christmas season yet (my kids _made_ me a custom game for a present, we had excellent extended family game times, I made huge headway on several hobbyhorse projects…) but I missed just 2p unwind with my partner. Now we return to Explorers of Navoria #boardgames ❤️

I enjoyed easily my most board gamey Christmas season yet (my kids _made_ me a custom game for a present, we had excellent extended family game times, I made huge headway on several hobbyhorse projects…) but I missed just 2p unwind with my partner. Now we return to Explorers of Navoria #boardgames ❤️

Had a blast teaching my parents how to play Quacks tonight (and Kate and I both getting smoked by both of them for our troubles). And getting to use the ingredient dumpsters! What a fun, silly game, but also man, set 1 is pretty solid but the bag pull birds slow it down, might try a hybrid next time

The weekend may’ve been largely populated by shorter games (all L’s for me, mostly W’s for daughter), but from Root playtesting at LG-HQ on Thursday to a resurgence of a long-time hobbyhorse in the before-work hour, it was a fantastic chunk of games. Now to actually PLAY my new Maximum Chrome TR…
It’s hard to overstate how thoroughly Kate thwarted my evil plans in the final turn of LOTR: Duel. I was pushing for a nearly unanimous military strategy while the Fellowship amassed supporters, towers, money, AND rings (hard to imagine how I lost!), but it was a final gold card extra turn win. 😭

The Frost Fleet now has a little bit of Radiator Springs right here in IRL. The Cars franchise has an outsized impact on us, and I don’t care what anyone says, Cars 1 is friggin great and Cars 3 is filled with genuinely important life lessons (and we correctly treat Cars 2 like it never happened).

The Frost Fleet now has a little bit of Radiator Springs right here in IRL. The Cars franchise has an outsized impact on us, and I don’t care what anyone says, Cars 1 is friggin great and Cars 3 is filled with genuinely important life lessons (and we correctly treat Cars 2 like it never happened).
“Frozen yellow.” My buddy @lordoftheboard.bsky.social and I were ranking the Root meeples (specifically the lizard cult, cutely grinning on my hat) for a video and he said something like “I love… I’ve always called it ‘frozen yellow’.” My brain simultaneously ground to a halt but also got it, haha

Tonight’s after hours solo game time: reset and played through the first two chapters of Spire’s End Hildgard after more than two years since my first and only partial play. I’ve slowly added five of the bitsy expansions knowing I’d make it back one day and damn I’m glad I did. 🎃❤️#soloboardgames
Today was “Park Palooza” with dadda & kiddos. We drove around the twin cities checking out some awesome playgrounds further away from our stomping grounds. As windy as it was, I was happy to be repping my @leder.games love with my lizard beanie. “Frozen yellow” right @lordoftheboard.bsky.social? 😉

And while you can’t see it here, I made use of some packing foam from a tuba my middle school band recent purchased to make a surprisingly robust and comfy shoulder harness type internal setup. Gotta say… pretty proud of this goofball costume. And he only fell once trick or treating! 😅

Just played my first two solo games of Dranda Games’ fantastic game Explorers of Navoria. I’m in love with the lighthearted image stretched taught across a crunchy combo-fest. Played the first solo episode twice with different sidequest and difficulties and adored both! @drandagames.bsky.social

Just read about tweets being fed to Grok and wasn’t interested. I was fully on board to perma-lurk, but with the abysmal engagement and absolute swarm of bots and bros, completely removing the ability to fall back on the old habit seemed like the right move. Go and joy go with you, Elno.

Just finished my first-ever game of LOTR: Duel (two-handed to test my rulebook knowledge). My wife and I have played a BUNCH of games of 7W:D, but I’m not gonna lie… I friggin love this new take on the classic. The art, the three victory conditions, it was SO tense all the way through.

Just finished my first-ever game of LOTR: Duel (two-handed to test my rulebook knowledge). My wife and I have played a BUNCH of games of 7W:D, but I’m not gonna lie… I friggin love this new take on the classic. The art, the three victory conditions, it was SO tense all the way through.
