This seems to be happening quite a lot! I that hope @bsky.app is working on a permanent solution.

Absolutely. You don't play around with guys like that you just get the hell away from them.

THIS. That is the absolute worst thing to say to anyone who is upset! Nothing enrages an individual like that!

I would definitely agree that this documentary is Oscar worthy, although I don't always agree with what the academy chooses. Regardless, it's a fantastic accomplishment.

It is an amazing tribute. The music and interviews and recordings of Buckley speaking, all of the different aspects of this film were masterfully interwoven to create a piece that flowed, that followed his life chronologically, and that left me feeling as though I now have a grasp on who he was.

Yes, his music is his legacy and has transcended generations. But clearly he was so much more than only that to the people who genuinely loved him. This documentary really reflected that love.

The quote that really both resonated with and saddened me: "People don't really think of me as a face, or a name, or a body or anything- just the music. Because when I'm dead, that's the only thing that will be around."

Not placing blame on anyone. This was no one's fault given the era in which this occurred. There is so much more public knowledge now. One has to wonder if things would have gone entirely differently had this happened in another decade or so.

As someone who has studied psychology, worked in the mental health field, and also struggles with mental health issues, how tragic that there was no one around him who knew to get him help. How tragic that he managed to diagnose himself, but those around him did not know what the dx meant.

I was also very struck by the statement that Radiohead had been so inspired by one of his shows that they had gone directly to the studio and recorded Fake Plastic Trees (an absolute favourite). I trust that information is true given the integrity demonstrated throughout the entire film.

I learned a lot about him that I did not know. Particularly things about his interactions with other artists. I didn't know he was a huge Soundgarden fan or that he was friends with Chris Cornell. I so wish that they had recorded together! That would have been an incredible combination.
December 9, 2025 at 5:27 PM
The interviews were all with people who knew him incredibly well, people who were very close to him at some point. The sense of loss that they all still feel was palpable.
December 9, 2025 at 5:25 PM
This was absolutely none of those things. It felt like an incredibly intimate look into his life and into who he was as a human being. It felt like the filmmaker had truly captured his essence.
I am still in tears after listening to that last voicemail that he left his mother. Gut wrenching.

By the time you read this, you should be safely landed. Hope it was an eventless flight!
I am typically very leery of posthumous documentary. I have seen so many riddled with misinformation, with interviews of people who barely knew the subject, generally just mistruths and propaganda.

Actually decided to turn it on now. Give me about an hour and a half… 🙂

Looks like I can get it on Crave here! It's in my watchlist!

Definitely one of mine! Hey – is that doc out now?

I wouldn't be laughing. I would not trust those guys not to run him over or shoot him. Racist SOB's.

I used to use Wordpress many years back. That took me a while to get a hold on as well. I really need to find the time to go through some tutorials. Perhaps after the holidays – right now things are pretty crazy and my energy is very low and ADHD seems to be going full force.
