Not saying I ate my body weight in calamari, but I ate my body weight in calamari 🤣🦑

Would recommend Kapari and Ouzaki in Kolympia, Apollo Bar in Lindos.

The buffet in our hotel was pretty good too.

Back in rainy London from a dreamy week of S&S (sun and shut down) in Rhodes.

A beautiful island to explore if you love history, beaches, scenic forests and mountain drives, or just need to escape city life.

It’s the week of my sister’s death anniversary and I’ve been triggered extra this year after being in a health event.

Grief, the bitch, is catching up.

Today, a colleague who was with me when Kaye died gave me this.

Kindness, just like heartache, can be so overwhelming.

Very much enjoying the #Wimbledon Men’s Singles finals, and couldn’t be more happier that Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are both in the finals.

Still not sure how this will pan out but both gentlemen are playing so well, it’s quite the thriller. Whoever wins deserves it.

An incredibly short but extremely sweet 5 days spent with family in Hong Kong and Macau. Have missed the city and how vibrant it is.

But nothing compares to spending time with family.

Life is short, take the flight. ✈️🌍

👋🏼 #BookSky pals! Highly recommend Tiffany McDaniel’s Betty.

My heart ached, soared, and raced through this story. I didn’t want it to finish, but had to have a moment for the fallen stars I met along the way, and the redemption song ringing in my ears in the end.

Made me appreciate family more.

Reminiscing a lovely dinner of Ottoman cuisine in Istanbul. Tried Sultan’s Delight, a classic Turkish recipe of meat stew on top of an eggplant sauce similar to (but thicker than) babaganoush. Loved it, and I’m not a fan of tomato-based stew!

Remembering the time my sister was selected to meet and to be prayed over by the late Pope Francis. 10 years on, I hope she's singing for him again in heaven.

Conclave starts today. Here's hoping the right person gets the opportunity to lead the way.

Morning and happy Easter Sunday Womble and #BookSky!

Currently reading Ruby Hamad’s White Tears/Brown Scars. Fascinating read so far, albeit some examples of micro-aggressions are truly stranger than fiction. I think everyone should read this to learn a thing or two.

My first 5-star read this year: Chris Whitaker’s All the Colours of the Dark.

Very character driven, and almost all of them you want to root for. There are twists and developments that put you on an emotional rollercoaster, and the ending was so satisfying, my wee heart wept.

As ever, solidarity with those who celebrate that extra chromosome and the lovely people who have them.

Didn’t quite understand unconditional love til my sister Kaye came to our lives. We lost her in the dark days of COVID, but her light and love shines through everyday.

Today is #WorldDownSyndromeDay and again as with each year, I am reminded of that extra chromosome that brings a lot of extra love.

Morning Womble and #BookSky pals!

Heard lots of mixed reviews about Asako Yuzuki’s Butter (my Goodreads friends are divided on whether it’s one of the best or one of the worst books of the year) so thought I’d check it out myself.

Has anyone read this yet? 💙📚

Not exactly a fan but I especially feel sorry for Niall Horan, whose social media team may have forgotten that he has literally been trolled by the 4:5 Instagram grid change:

Morning Womble and #BookSky pals!

On a re-read mood today, so picking up Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower to sober up from the (frankly) unbelievable plot twist of current events. Goosebumps when they say “you cannot make this up” and you realise you’ve actually read it somewhere 🫠

Morning Wombat & Friends! Currently cosy in bed with a strong cuppa, biscuits, and Rebecca Yarros’ Iron Flame. Finally taking this giant sequel on, although it’s reminding me slightly of some Game of Thrones story arcs. A third in, so far no cringey sexy bits, w/c I’m happy about. 💙📚 #BookSky

RIP, David Lynch. 💔🤍
Thank you for opening this girl’s imagination beyond societal norms.
For starting my love of sci-fi via Dune.
For pushing the envelope and driving home the velvet rope.
And for showing kids that we specially cosmic.

Lila Shapiro’s @nymag.com exposé on Neil Gaiman and feeling disturbed, heartbroken, sick.

He was my favourite modern day literary hero. How wrong were we to not see the signs? What a dark mess this all is.

Heart goes to those who’ve come forward.

Had a delightful time admiring the stunning interiors at The Old Sessions House, and feasting on Head Chef Abi Hill's seasonal menu at Session Arts Club.

Definitely makes up for a good #London recommendation.

Morning Womble & #BookSky pals!

I’ve loved the L Frank Baum’s Oz books growing up, so welcome all spinoffs & derivatives (I’ve also seen Wicked on stage 7 times 🫠).

I’m glad it’s something I share with my niece. So now finally reading the Dorothy Must Die series, as recommended by her. 💙📚
