I am interested in the ecology and succession of arthropod communities after large-scale wildfires
Last week at the FIRECE Conference at Děčín castle, Czech Republic, I shared our preliminary findings on how wildfires shape flying insect communities and help sustain forest biodiversity. More insights on fire-driven beta diversity coming soon.

I'm glad to have presented the preliminary results of my literature review on saproxylic #beetles and #fire at the 12th European Symposium on #Saproxylic #Ecology in Florence, Italy. I can't wait for the final results!

Many thanks to @CREAricerca for organizing the conference

A global-scale, long-term analysis of trends in post-fire biomass recovery finds that since 2001 forest recovery has been increasingly sensitive to fire severity

Increasing severity of large-scale fires prolongs recovery time of forests globally since 2001 - Nature Ecology & Evolution
The authors undertake a global-scale, long-term analysis of trends in post-fire biomass recovery, examining the influence of fire severity and climatic drivers before and after 2010. They find that si...

This week, we've been setting up #Malaisetraps in Tenerife, in an area impacted by a large-scale #wildfire in 2023. I'm excited to collect samples for DNA metabarcoding analysis. But first, let's hope all 36 traps survive two weeks in the field!

Last week, we sampled #soil #arthropods in Tenerife, where a major wildfire occurred in 2023. We’re investigating arthropod responses in fire-adapted and fire-sensitive forests. Sampling was done with Alena Sucháčková and Vojtech Lanta from Biology Centre CAS, and Carmelo Andújar from @ipna.csic.es

By the end of 2024, we completed two more regions for the #EdAFoBio project (funded by @ageinves.bsky.social)! 🌍🌱
Over the course of a month, we conducted a soil sampling campaign in Chile, covering both a temperate and a Mediterranean forest! 🐜🌳

Nov-Dec 2024, I collaborated on the EdAFoBio project, led by Carmelo Andújar, in #Chile 🇨🇱

We sampled #soil #arthropods along two 200-km transects, one in the Mediterranean region and one Temperate region

I am excited for the wocDNA metabarcoding results! @soilevoecolab.bsky.social @ipna.csic.es
