Adding a few words about myself is my New Year's Resolution. I've avoided it too long.
Heightened risk of maternal death from heart attack extends a year after delivery. It is cruel to mandate protection of a fetus with no regard for the extended maternal risk to life that mandate has caused.

This year my state's numbers were close to what CDC reported until the shutdown, although last year's preliminary report is low by 20% and has never been updated.
It just seems that 330 to 3500 cases in six weeks is a dramatic jump for a state to have not reported that until now.

Yikes. Sounds like Texas was not reporting pertussis cases to CDC.
(corrected) Latest CDC report I found was Week 38, week ending Sept 20 2025. Total US cases YTD at that time was 20,939. Texas had reported only 330 cases.

OHA posts weekly pertussis updates on Wed, usually by mid afternoon. The Oct 29 report, through week of Oct 19-25, for case reports received by Oct 28, was at 1,341 cases.
