Before the ACA pediatricians would code the one week newborn visit as a "weight check" or "feeding concerns" because if we coded it as "well baby visit" the insurance only allowed so many per calendar year and the family would get a bill.

I remember when you first spoke this, absolutely unbelievable that it’s been 4 years since. I’m glad you’re doing well

You don’t necessarily have to isolate, wear a well-fitted N95 when out and about.

Last week, we had a harm reduction org do a training on how to use Narcan, gave us kits to keep, and discussed myths about SUD and fentanyl. She brought up that you cannot OD by touching fentanyl, and my brain immediately went to @ryanmarino.bsky.social

Words like disability doula mean

'the often-invisible work of disabled people “supporting people rebirthing themselves as disabled or more disabled.” It involves people with disabilities sharing the knowledge and resources that have come about through their lived experiences with others.'
Newly disabled people aren’t given a ‘how-to’ guide. Disability doulas are closing those gaps.
The community care practice, pioneered by queer women of color, reorients newly disabled people to a different life – a necessity that has grown during the pandemic era.

This was one of the most fulfilling parts of being an ICU tech. I could always be available to sit with our EOL patients without family.
