Ok, the Easter Bunny hasn’t been yet, but The Old Vic will soon be selling tickets for this year’s A Christmas Carol. It’s such a gloriously festive activity, would totally recommend. If it’s your bag, don’t wait until December to think about tickets…

‘Enjoyed’ doesn’t cut it, but I’m glad I watched ‘We Live in Time’. It might not be doing the awards rounds, but I thought Florence Pugh did a sterling job playing a young, confident women who is dealt a shitty hand. Life is short, you could do worse than spare two hrs on this film. Tissues needed.

I’ve only got into rugby in the last few years (after resisting for a very long time). But I love heading off to Murrayfield now when I can get tickets, there’s such a brilliant atmosphere around #Edinburgh when there’s a game on. Good result today (if a little tense at times!). #sixnations

Tell me there’s a storm coming without telling me there’s a storm coming. Batten down the hatches #Edinburgh and enjoy your bread…

Enjoyed a cheese&charcuterie board with @keithrobson.bsky.social Edinburgh’s Lady Libertine last week. It’s one of my go to bars for food and drinks. Just the thing for a wee snack after drinks with @melissacolebeer.bsky.social Note to all: the ‘small’ is enough for 2…

Enjoyed a trip to Edinburgh’s #DominionCinema today. I love their new Platinum Suites screen, great service. Saw ‘A Real Pain’ - if you enjoy losing yourself in a good story that doesn’t need suspense, super heroes or special effects go see. Kieran Culkin’s Golden Globe for it is well deserved.

I love a bit of Robbie, but even I was a bit unsure about a film portraying him as a monkey. But I’m so glad I went to see it, a really moving and absorbing film. I saw it with my 16 year old, unfathomable to imagine someone his age being thrust into that world. #betterman

Very luck to have the Pentlands almost on our doorstep on the outskirts of #Edinburgh. Particularly glorious when there’s been some snow! Lovely for a short walk today.

Red sky at night… I don’t think today will be a Shepherd’s delight though! 💨💨💨 Whether the weather (ahem) stops #Edinburgh castle being lit up for #Hogmanay is another question…

Finished Apple TV’s Bad Sister S2 this week. Always a joy to watch something with great parts for women, particularly with as good a cast as this. There’s some wild weather on the way, worth hunkering down to binge if you haven’t seen it already. #TV

Bad Sisters series 2 review — twists, bombshells, Fiona Shaw — what’s not to like?
The second series of the Irish comedy-drama is just as dark and funny as the first, with a new villain in the form of Fiona Shaw’s religious zealot

Thoroughly enjoyed a meal with friends at Greek restaurant Fava in #Edinburgh this #twixmas period. After days of festive food and grazing (and lots of meat), the veggie, salad and seafood mezze dishes we opted for were just the ticket. Would absolutely recommend any time of the year.

Is it even Christmas if there’s not some ropey icing on the cake? It should drip a bit more elegantly that this. But all said and done, pretty pleased with this year’s effort. Note to self, if you have to ask if the royal icing is thick enough it’s probably not…

Pre-Christmas festive feasting. Because there won’t be enough food over the next few days. @nigelslater.bsky.social partridge & pork pie will definitely be a regular seasonal feature from now on. Delicious. Followed by a pear based desert. Obvs. #christmasfood

One for the festive viewing schedules. Touching, heartwarming, and very sad in parts. It was the first record I ever bought, still my favourite Christmas tune, and I couldn’t have imagined then I’d be watching a documentary about it 40 years later. Yes, 40 years…

A lovely read. Talking at Night by Clair Daverley. It’s been on my reading list pile since hearing her speak at a literary lunch thing in the summer. A long train journey provided a perfect opportunity to get lost in it.

Annual trip to the Edinburgh King’s (temporarily relocated) Panto. It must have been a tough few years following the loss of the much loved panto stalwart Andy Gray, but it feels like they’ve really got their mojo back. You’ll never think of Fort Kinnaird the same way again. Great fun! 🎄🎭🎄

The annual mince pie seasonal tasting has commenced. Morrisons - average, not keen on the pastry but fine in an emergency. Waitrose crumble top with cranberry & orange. Not for the mince pie purists, but I found them tasty and not too sweet. Would repurchase. #mincepies

This is why I set a reminder to put the outdoor Christmas lights up early @keithrobson.bsky.social

We should probably stock up on mince pies and mulled wine supplies tomorrow too. Be prepared and all that.
Storm Bert has been named and is forecast to bring heavy rain, strong winds and disruptive snow to parts of the UK through the weekend ⚠️

The last five concerts you saw? Hmmm, I don’t go to concerts very often but I think it’s

1. Taylor Swift
2. Pulp
3. Bruce Springsteen
4. Robbie Williams
5. Kylie Minogue or Bananarama

The Wonderstuff, Texas and Paul Heaton (supported by Shed Seven & the Lightning Seeds) up next. #music

Movie - Lee - a really good piece of storytelling
TV - One Day - a nostalgic comfort blanket
Music - Taylor Swift Eras concert - best night with the teen
Book - nothing really stands out this year, but it’s been a low book count year ☹️
Theatre - The Picture of Dorian Gray - astounding
