Thanks for supporting one of my favorite book stores!

Life is all about balance. 9 months of glorious rain & cool weather are thus offset by 3 months of roadwork & the great devil ball of fiery torment.

Oddly enough, according to the USDA’s food standards and labeling policy book, that qualifies as a burrito. Unlike the the bean and cheese filled tortilla wrap I just ate, which lacked the requisite 15% beef or 10% chicken.

Never heard of it before, but it does look fun. Wish listed for probable later consumption.

Summary:

Birds in the Earth is a short film based on dance. The main characters are two young Sámi ballet students; Birit and Katja Haarla. The movie tells a bit melancholic story through their dance performances. At the same time it examines the deeper questions of the ownership of Sámi land.

I think it was while reading Moominsummer Madness that said child suddenly declared: “What?! Another flood!”

My last camping trip was crazy. I mean, it was just so in tents.

I just went down a rabbit hole on baking and sugars (in the US). I was expecting something interesting, but not that the acidity of brown sugar is necessary in chocolate chip cookies to react with the baking soda. That white sugar alone can’t.

Now I need to find a good science of baking resource.

It’s been a long time since I last baked cookies in France. I’ve completely forgotten the differences in flour typing verses the US. But if I recall, I added an extra 1/4 cup flour to the nestle recipe to account for… something?

Also: Highly recommend adding 1 cup rolled oats on general principle.
