This ordinance ensures that affordable housing is no longer an afterthought — it’s the starting point. It marks an important step toward ensuring every Bostonian has the opportunity to own a home. Thank you to Council President Louijeune for her leadership on this ordinance.

I’m grateful to Lawyers for Civil Rights, neighborhood advocates, civic leaders, and cultural organizations who have been laying the groundwork for this effort. I’m proud to bring forward this resolution to honor and uplift East Boston’s creative spirit.

The hearing will examine the City of Boston’s capacity to provide effective oversight and enforcement of short-term rentals while also exploring potential legislative or administrative reforms to strengthen accountability and protect neighborhood stability.
