Like my father before me, I have on more than one occasion been physically ejected from the corporate offices of the Chicago Cubs baseball club.
It’s not a small ask, but if the offseason brought Imai in and Bichette back, I’d be very happy. They can fill in most of the other gaps with trades and lower-tier FAs and still have money available for a trade deadline pickup. But as I say, it’s not a small ask. They have their work cut out.

I try not to sentimentalize, but I’d probably lean Bichette (as a 2B). Unique all-fields offence, should age well (bat speed dropped this year but didn’t matter), would be very solid at 2B, and would give the club $150M+ in future payroll optionality versus Tucker.

He’s not even new anymore. Six months into the job, he’s just the Pope now.

Yeah, a Mookie-Bo middle infield wouldn't do their pitching staff any favours. But they might figure, let's just bludgeon other teams to death with our lineup. I also don't think there's much available on the shortstop market at the moment -- basically, it's Bichette and Ha-Seong Kim. Ominous vibes.

I hate to go further, but LA makes a ton of sense for Bo as well. He’s immensely marketable, and only New York offers more of those opportunities. The Dodgers are a proven winning franchise, and there are so many stars there already, he wouldn’t need to stand out, which I don’t think he likes doing.

Naylor’s deal also seems pretty team-friendly; like Bieber, he seemed to really enjoy the club he was traded to. Money is always the #1 FA signing factor, and that won’t change, but it’s possible “other considerations” might play a bigger role than in previous offseasons.

No, just the Star comments section (which outside of YouTube is one of the very worst).

I like to tell my kid that Pinto always gets a goal or an assist in Senators wins because his name is an anagram for “point.” He ignores me, of course.

His 2025 postseason totals. In 89 PA, against some of the best pitchers in baseball in the playoff pressure cooker, Vladdy hit .397/.494/.795 with a 241 wRC+ and an insane .397 ISO. We'll never see better than that.
