Anyway, the nightstand is cute. (8/8)

Living sustainably is hard. Living with chronic illness is harder. Doing both at once? A masterclass in cheerful survival.

And here’s the thing: this wasn’t a crisis. It wasn’t extraordinary. It was just… Tuesday. (7/8)

Then I drove home—carefully, cautiously—unloaded everything, and logged into a meeting.

Camera off, because I’d literally puked 15 minutes earlier. Camera off, because pain had re-sculpted my face. Camera off, because this is what “normal” looks like sometimes. (6/8)

As I’m sliding the drawers back in, the migraine wins.

I turn my head and puke.

Right there. On the lady’s driveway. Like a gross, involuntary calling card that no one wants left behind.

I wipe my mouth with my sleeve, grateful no one saw me. And that the nightstand fit in the Fiat EV. (5/8)

After barfing 2xs at home, I drove with one working eye to a sweet older lady’s house, fought the nausea to make small talk, and put the nightstand in the boot—even though I’m not supposed to lift anything heavier than a grocery bag.

Chronic illness is 80% self-negotiation, 20% self-delusion. (4/8)

But I didn’t want to lose the nightstand.

I love being independent. And I hate asking for help. So I convinced myself: It’s just a mile and a half. I can do this.

I found a great deal—the kind you jump on because you’ve got (vegan) champagne taste on a beer budget and you’re trying to make your little LA treehouse feel more like a French chateau.

One problem: out of nowhere, a migraine hit so hard the left half of my vision turned into TV static. (2/8)

It’s very, very plastic, but dang—it’s held up!!

Info on LA’s rent control measures—rules that allowed me as a working artist to remain in my humble, non updated one-bedroom apartment without having to “move home” or live with roommates, which is neigh impossible for me as someone with multiple chronic illnesses.

LA reforms rent control for first time in 40 years, lowering rent hikes for most tenants
Under the reforms approved by a majority of City Council members, rent hikes would be capped at 4%, even if inflation in the overall economy runs higher.

Oh! And from #GiasConsciousCloset… this champagne-like sweater was my Irish grandmother’s. Bought in Denver in the ‘60s at a long gone department store called Neusteder’s but made in Italy, it’s the perfect party accessory, and I’ve worn it since I was a teenager! #Ecofashionista #SustainableFashion
