shhh...I don't want to give away the ending
Asylum seekers are a subset of immigrants. The conversation is in the context of the current immigration actions. They're not flying planes to France.

Stop being obtuse. You asked. I answered.

There was a time when Americans were proud that others wanted to come here for a better life. We called ourselves the land of opportunity.

Then white people figured out they were going to be outnumbered, and our rentier class realized they could manipulate those people's fear to get richer. Ta da!

Sending crowded ships of non-white people against their will across an ocean?

Seems like we've tried that one before.

Well...if we keep giving them the opportunity to practice, eventually they'll get it right.

...which was a half hour movie. It was dark and cool and it took half a minute to fall asleep. He refused to stay for another show, so i had it. From that point on, i made it my mission to make him drink in every country. By the time we got to China, he was trashed, and i was laughing.

My husband was mad at me for staying up all night before our flight from Seattle to Orlando. So he woke me up at 7am to go to Epcot. That's 4am PST.

Anyway, it was crazy hot, and i was tired, but he wouldn't stop to rest because it was my fault i was tired. We get to the France exhibit...

True. Unless it involves frying bacon in the nude. That's never going to be not funny.

Humor is fueled by life experience. The odder you are, the fewer people will get why you think you're funny. I've been known to be the only one to get the joke, until I tell my husband. He's warped, too.

OTOH, I'm hilarious. Wanna hear about the Death March of Epcot Center?

The best news is that each one is a standalone movie and you don't need to watch them in any particular order.

To be fair, the second one kinda sucks until the last 30 minutes. The third one has Jeremy Irons sinking his teeth into the bad guy role and Samuel L. Jackson as the sidekick. The 4th one has an interesting premise to it and a great cast.

I haven't seen the 5th one. It looks dumb.

The point is they can't. The lack of a social safety net means that people stay at crappy jobs because they have to support the debt that most of us labor under. And we'll be forced to take less pay and benefits.

Free education means no student loans. Free healthcare means less medical debt.

Once you realize that many Americans think it's acceptable to let someone starve if they can't get a job, who don't want to pay taxes so that kids don't go to school hungry and go home hungry, who make it illegal for restaurants to give away extra food.

Only then can you understand America.

He was also eerie when he played Ted Bundy.

I liked to remind her of that. 😉

Oh, she had a thing for Mark Harmon going back to when he played football in college.

That depended on the era. Pretty much whoever was People's Sexiest Man that year.

Mom was a Mel Gibson fan for a long time, but she always appreciated an action hero.

My brother and I started a debate on whether Die Hard or Lethal Weapon is a better Christmas movie in 1989. We kept it up until mom died in 2014. She thought it was hilarious.

Free Fallin. I don't know what it is, but that song is like nails on a chalkboard.

BTW - have you ever been singing along to the radio and realize halfway through that you're singing a song you hate and you know every word?
