My grandma is the nicest, most beautiful person I know. She’s turning 85 this year. I hope she can make it to 90 somehow. She still has her wits about her and we always have an intelligent conversation. If you have someone like this in your life, of any age, be very grateful for them.
This framing by @NewYorkTimes seems irresponsible and lacking in moral clarity. NY Times is introducing symmetry to a debate where there is none. While the video has intensified partisan reactions, it’s still incumbent upon the media to call a spade a spade — in this case, a murder in plain sight.

I got my son a Switch 2 for Christmas, and it turned out he asked my mom for a digital projector, and these gifts have merged, Voltron like, into the kids now playing Mario Cart eight feet wide on the living room wall. Which is very festive.

Weird how all the people who tried to get everyone fired for saying anything about Charlie Kirk's murder that wasn't donning sackcloth and smearing ashes on their head have suddenly revisited their opposition to celebrating a murder, isn't it?

The most fun I've ever had watching a football game was when McDaniel's Dolphins put up 70 points on the Broncos and my wife, the hardcore Broncos fan, was out with friends and not watching, so I texted her updates every time someone scored even after she told me she didn't really need live updates.
Dolphins fire McDaniel after 4 seasons
The Miami Dolphins dismissed head coach Mike McDaniel, the team announced Thursday. The 42-year-old leaves the team with a 35-33 record across four seasons, including a 7-10 mark in 2025."After…

Always happy to talk about Theravada Buddhism, tropical plants, distance running, and home cooking. I feel like those topics don’t get as much engagement though.
u heard sharon, everyone post about their esoteric interests right fucking now. for the good of the community, we need to be hyperfixationmaxxing.
i think this site really needs to figure out how to grow the non-politics verticals (the baseball moment was a good thing!) because i suspect a lot of the bad clusters come out of the political clusters driving 95% of ENG-lang posts

I don’t think a high number of pardons is a bad thing at all. There are many, many people who deserve clemency, far more than ever get pardons.

It’s *who* he’s pardoning that is the bad thing.
So far, in less than one year, Donald Trump has issued over TEN TIMES as many pardons as he did in his entire four-year first term. That’s a lot of criminals released onto our streets.

If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

It’s a little ridiculous how many of these insane talking points would explode if anyone bothered following up with “what is your evidence for that?”
I am planning on going to No Kings gathering this weekend in central Texas. And since I was terminated by MSNBC a few weeks ago, can someone let me know where to pick up paycheck that GOP keeps talking about. I have asked many folks going to No Kings, and none are getting paid.

Trump's "anti-Antifa" EO is far more problematic than a lot of pundits are claiming, as I outline in my latest piece (which also includes #FOIA litigation material on Secret Service Antifa investigations not previously released).
On Trump's Anti-Antifa Executive Order
Trump issued his long-threatened executive order (EO) designating an idea—antifascism, known by its shorthand version, Antifa—a “domestic terrorist organization.”

"Don't have empathy because he didn't" is precisely wrong. If we strive to be good, and we must, that means striving to be better than those who aren't. It means being ethical towards even the unethical. It means being virtuous towards even the unvirtuous. It means maintaining our humanity.
