Not sure how to ask for help? Dr. Wayne Baker came up what he calls the "SMART" system of asking for help. Under his system requests should be:

Specific

Meaningful (so all parties know why you are asking)

Action oriented

Realistic

Time-bound

One study in the Journal of Psychological Science found that those asking for help consistently underestimated how willing friends and strangers were to help, as well as how good they felt afterward.
