I think the truth is much more complicated. Manufacturing overseas can create certain jobs here by offering a more affordable product. In the end, you may actually see a *loss* of US jobs as fewer people pay for $240 sneakers, both at home and abroad.

Wer diesen Moment seit Jahren befürchtet und vor ihm gewarnt hat, nimmt ihn heute ohne Schock.
Wir wissen, wie dieser Mechanismus funktioniert.
Wir wissen, was dagegen hilft.

The amount of German journalists, podcasters and political commentators who still believe Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy schtick and see Musk as a visionary genius is staggering. They refuse to see them as what they are - technocratic fascist who dream of an oligarchy at best & sth more sinister at worst
Lindner deserves all the ridicule he’s getting. But let’s also remember that the German perspective on U.S. politics in general and figures like Musk and Vance in particular is bizarrely warped: It’s very much still e-car progress genius Musk and Hillbilly Elegy Trump-explainer Vance…

I have a new piece out @newrepublic.com, a reply to Ezra Klein's recent "ignore fact-finders, respond to the anger" take on Pod Save America.

On the one hand, I agree 100%: politics are vibes, and can't fact-check vibes.

Other
Hand

Those (incorrect) vibes COME FROM SOMEWHERE: the media.
