Founder of the Hackney Buzzline
In two weeks time, a new Buzzline will launch in Uganda's capital city Kampala - 4000 miles from London, as the bee flies. Schools on the Hackney Buzzline are twinning up with schools on the Kampala Buzzline and the children are saying hello!

In this world we need to come together more than ever.

Happy New Year World. Love from the London New Year's Day Parade. Massive thanks to those who travelled thousands of miles to take part in the British tradition of doing crazy stuff in atrocious weather! #lnydp

We've got a new electric cargo bike for Xmas! The bike provides sustainable transport on the Hackney Buzzline. We're also using it to manage @hackneycouncil.bsky.social street parklets as pollinator havens, working with @grown22.com. Thanks @zeroemissions.bsky.social & @heritagefunduk.bsky.social

We've made a nursery for mining bees in a new pollinator garden on the Hackney Buzzline. We've selected substrates informed by six years of rigorous research into the preferences of ground nesting bees by Dr. Tsiolis from Pollinating London Together. Everything we do is based on the best science.

Jamal, Mia, Cindy, and Najat joined the #HackneyBuzzline ecoteam at Kingsmead Primary Dchool. Head teacher Evelyn Deeney asks them what they're doing for pollinators, why we need bees and butterflies, and how they chose two beautiful mosaics for their school, made by the Hackney Mosaic Project.

We're thrilled to have formed an art partnership with the Hackney Mosaic Project. Founder Tessa Hunkin tells how volunteers are making a trail of beautiful bee and butterfly mosaics along the #HackneyBuzzline. We've installed the first pair of mosaics at Kingsmead Primary School.

They're now tucked in for winter on two council housing estates - ready to brighten the lives of residents next spring. @hackneycouncil.bsky.social cabinet member for the environment @sarahwoodberrydown.bsky.social explains.

We're growing the #HackneyBuzzline through @hackneycouncil.bsky.social estates. Hackney Housing joined charity ecoACTIVE volunteers and residents on Homerton's Linzell Estate to add pollinator-friendly flowers, a habitat hedge, bee hotels, woodchip path, and benches to the Linzell Garden.
