There are so many memories. I met John in the early ‘70s. I was giving a talk at the Canadian Psych Association conference. My PhD topic = is egocentrism a unitary construct? Some guy starting asking me all sorts of tough questions. It was John — the conference keynote speaker! A friendship began.

I spent my first sabbatical (1978-1979) with John. He encouraged me to continue my work on the relations between perspective taking and the expression of behavior in the peer group. During the year , we spent a good deal of time on the tennis courts and the golf course! That year “made” my career.
