Today’s SECU Stadium crowd for Maryland vs Michigan at the end of the first quarter. Third ‘sellout’ of the season (capacity 46,185), but to my untrained eye, the most people that have been here so far this season.

Blessed with a lot of picture-perfect college football Saturdays in College Park this season, and today is no exception, as Maryland honors 16 seniors in its final home game of the season against No. 18 Michigan.

Salmon vs. blue crab.
Chesapeake Bay vs. Elliott Bay.
Maryland vs. Washington.

Terps and Huskies meet today for only the 2nd time and 1st since the inaugural Aloha Bowl in 1982. Boomer Esiason had 251 yds and 2 TDs in a 21-20 loss. The bowl no longer exists. Nor does the Pac-10.

The Big Ten has released its men’s basketball schedule this afternoon. For Maryland, December games are @ Iowa and vs Michigan; SoCal road trip in mid January; and four home games in a jam-packed February.

An unfortunate uptick in lantern flies around, but a beautiful night nonetheless in College Park for the lone Friday night contest of the season as Maryland takes on Northern Illinois.

‪Bleacher seats have been renumbered at SECU Stadium, making them wider but also reducing capacity. First two rows of bleachers behind the benches also have been removed. Capacity now 46,000, down from 51,000. ‬

Alex de Minaur says “I just got lucky today” in telling Alejandro Davidovich Fokina that he’s going to get that first ATP title soon. De Minaur is back into the top 10 now and ADF will crack the top 20 for the first time.

‪It has ended. At 1:49 a.m. Three hours later. No. 12 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina wins the third set 7-5 after top seed Taylor Fritz served for the match. ‬

Cher once asked if she could turn back time.

Tonight, Venus Williams did.

Cracking forehands from the jump. Her serve came to her with authority in the second set (after she lost the opening game of the match at love on her serve!).

An inspiring performance in DC.

All right, let’s get it set for the second semifinal, as No. 2 Maryland takes on No. 3 Michigan. Terps beat the Wolverines 10 days ago in Ann Arbor and come off of their best game of the season in a 23-point beatdown of Illinois last night. Tip approximately 3:50.
