A rising, bipartisan sentiment that really bums me out is the idea that experience in public office is irrelevant, if not bad, when choosing executive leadership in government.
We had to say goodbye to one of our best friends today. He had a lot of names, he wore a lot of hats, and he helped me through many challenges. A dog might be man’s best friend, but a cat is man’s best roommate. You were a real one, Bean. Love you forever.

We’re dealing with people who think mortgage rates are high because the national debt is high, who think Elon Musk is going to just delete the government into a balanced budget, and in a truly impressive display of mental gymnastics, thinks one would be owed a refund check for deficit spending.

Look up this thread and read the comments if you want to better understand the primary reason I’m skeptical these guys will be able to capitalize on the opportunity they have to capture durable cultural standing: they’re a bunch of complete and absolute dorks.

If you’re listing 6 decontextualized statistics and then drawing from them a sweeping conclusion, that conclusion is probably wrong (or at least incomplete). Yet, this conclusion confirms peoples’ priors, so it has 1300 likes, 161 reposts, 56 shares, and it has been viewed 27k times in just 2 hours.
