Yes, totally. I politely called someone on a statement they made that was tone deaf (imho). They responded, I responded back etc. none of it was uncivil, and he didn't block me, I didn't unfollow him ;). Was curious about others reference to jerks and whether that's anyone who doesn't 100% agree

Whole heartedly agree, but leads me to an etiquette question here... polite disagreements allowed or is anyone offering a different perspective or questioning some of a post a "jerk"?

#usbirds #usbirding etc seems logical if you segment others (or a North America flavor if keeping continental)

I hear you, and I agree that there are many who hold themselves back from all that is possible. Quite often, they are doing 100% the opposite of what you suggested, but are surprised nothing comes their way. You have to show up, and put in the work.

No - but to imply it's as simple as taking what you want, assumes the person who is asking for long held norms to change can break the door down alone. In truth, it will require the drive of the one seeking the seat AND folks like us to advocate, introduce, and help usher others to the table.

I truly respect you Matthew... but this is really tone deaf and the perspective of a white man who has the keys to open the doors. I have had the only seat held by a female on a board or exec team of all men. That said, to walk into the room... the door can't be locked and bolted shut to others
