This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

Zohran's campaign was his determination to make New York a city everyone can afford to live in. Huge congratulations!

His success will resonate throughout the world. A story where no one is left behind.

It's time to write that story across England & Wales too.

It's brilliant and exciting to see Zohran Mamdani elected.
More leaders like him please, and fewer like Cuomo, Schumer and the rest of the oligarch-pleasing, hope-destroying, election-losing, right-centrist political class.

When Labour in the future say you have to vote for them to stop Reform – remember there are countless reasons that argument is equal parts absurd and offensive.

But 26th August 2025 should stand out for their complete capitulation to the right.

Absolutely shameful.

Not his description of "invasion", not his prediction that the UK on brink of civil war, not plans to pay the Taliban or Iran to take back migrants, or indeed to rule out doing so themselves.

You don’t have to be homeless to sell The Big Issue.

We've been reflecting this week on the words of the Prime Minister, which add to an already hostile environment for racialised communities.

With a mission to fight inequality, we will always stand up for migrant and refugee communities, and champion the huge positives that migration brings.

Good on a current MP (presumably not for long given the party's dislike of dissenting voices) for saying what needs to be said.

Never mind the Powellite soundbites, boiling migrants and refugees down to economic chips to be judged and valued is abhorrent and reductive.
The step-up in anti-migrant rhetoric from the government is shameful and dangerous.

Migrants are our neighbours, friends and family.

To suggest that Britain risks becoming “an island of strangers” because of immigration mimics the scaremongering of the far-right.
