Questioning the actions and motives of the Town of North Hempstead (NY), which exercises authority over Albertson, Carle Place, Garden City Park, Herricks, Manhasset, Port Washington, Roslyn Heights, Searingtown, and many other unincorporated hamlets.
TONH Code § 70-203(F)(1):
"The presence of multiple pigeons upon a premises, on at least three dates, within a two-week period, as observed by a code enforcement officer of the Town, shall be presumptive evidence that a premises is being used in violation of this section."
Look at this scofflaw:

Herricks/Hillside. The sign cites TONH Code § 70-203(Z), which provides: "In any commercial district, no individual shall feed, keep, or harbor pigeons, except when authorized by the Board of Zoning and Appeals under the provisions of Article XXIV."
"Pigeons," not "birds." Feeding crows is OK, then?

Yesterday was the last day to pay the school tax without penalty. Mary Jo Collins, Receiver of Taxes, was at one of the desks accepting checks from the many walk-ins who came to pay. Kind of impressive, actually (unless maybe she goes in to the office only four times a year for those deadline days).

The removal of three healthy old oaks by TONH (see previous posts) is complete. Your tax dollars are helping to deforest the suburban landscape. TONH policy as stated in the Code is that trees are desirable, beneficial, good for the planet, etc. Greenwashing at its best...

Now it's Saturday and the crew is gone for the weekend. The trunks remain, waiting for Monday to be finished off. No more leaves and branches, just trunks waiting for death.

‪The Town of North Hempstead is in the process of cutting down three very old but healthy oaks near the corner of Carlton & Bayview Avenues in Port Washington. None were threats to any wires.

But see the Town Code: ecode360.com/9295144#9295...

And this about oaks:

Does anyone remember the gas station right across from Town Hall on Plandome Road that closed a while back? Do you remember how they used to charge nearly a buck a gallon more than other stations in the area? Do you wonder who would have filled up there at so high a price? Can you connect the dots?
