Questioning the actions and motives of the Town of North Hempstead (NY), which exercises authority over Albertson, Carle Place, Garden City Park, Herricks, Manhasset, Port Washington, Roslyn Heights, Searingtown, and many other unincorporated hamlets.
Herricks/Hillside. The sign cites TONH Code § 70-203(Z), which provides: "In any commercial district, no individual shall feed, keep, or harbor pigeons, except when authorized by the Board of Zoning and Appeals under the provisions of Article XXIV."
"Pigeons," not "birds." Feeding crows is OK, then?

The removal of three healthy old oaks by TONH (see previous posts) is complete. Your tax dollars are helping to deforest the suburban landscape. TONH policy as stated in the Code is that trees are desirable, beneficial, good for the planet, etc. Greenwashing at its best...

Now it's Saturday and the crew is gone for the weekend. The trunks remain, waiting for Monday to be finished off. No more leaves and branches, just trunks waiting for death.

‪The Town of North Hempstead is in the process of cutting down three very old but healthy oaks near the corner of Carlton & Bayview Avenues in Port Washington. None were threats to any wires.
