Let's eliminate SARS2, we're so close.
Blocked by Dr Meade Krosby.

She argued that Watson stole Rosalind Franklin's ideas and deprived her of a Nobel Prize, and arguing anything else was going against the "majority of scientists".

When provided with evidence to the contrary, she blocked it.

Never let evidence get in the way of hate?

Perhaps you should revisit your "facts". Earlier you insisted that I was out of line with the majority of scientists. I think you will find that's not right. Even Nature says she didn't have her IP stolen.

What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure
Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.

Have you read this Nature paper?

In particular note:
"So it was not a case of them stealing the King’s group’s data and then, voila, those data gave them the structure of DNA."

This is the view of the scientific community, not your view.

So my being male has what to do with this? I'm a scientist and I know how the publication process works.

I'm not into ad hominem attacks and that's an immediate block.

BTW, some academics may think they own the IP they create, but the institutions they work for may beg to differ.

Goodbye

What in her notebook says Franklin knew the structure of DNA? That it's a helix is only a small part of the story. What's in the helix is what Watson and Crick published in 1953. Franklin's contribution was published in the same issue and it's acknowledged by the majority of scientists.

Franklin sat on a publishable paper regarding photo 51, a big no no in science. And yes, she and Gosling should have received their own Nobel prize, but unfortunately she died and Nobel prizes are not awarded posthumously. Sounds like your actual problem is with the Nobel committee.
November 9, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Franklin and Gosling collaborated on taking photo 51 and they published their finding in the same issue of Nature as Watson and Crick. Franklin had sat on that image for a year. Why didn't they publish it immediately? Could it be they didn't recognize its significance?
November 9, 2025 at 9:50 PM
What was stolen?
Have you had a look at the Nature journal Crick and Watson published in? It was Nature 1953 issue 171. Also in that issue is Franklin and Gosling's paper, as well as a paper by Wilkins Stokes and Wilson. All involved had a paper on the topic.
What is the issue?

Sorry if it wasn't clear, it's a satirical take on the idea many in the US have that guns are needed for protection, not for murder.

Molly Ann gives a very good summary of the gun issue in the US

Congrats. But perhaps you might do something about public health this term?

Exactly what I was thinking!

If we NEED immigrants to run "our" economy what happens to the nations that immigrants immigrate from?

Perhaps there is a bigger question about the limits of economic growth and how we run a steady-state economy.

I hadn't heard of "explanatory depth", nice term. Definitely "Dunning-Kruger"
November 25, 2024 at 8:16 AM
Thanks for reposting that article.
I often ask people voicing strong opinions what they think the difference between their opinions, beliefs and knowledge is. It's amazing how they get tangled up when they try to explain themselves. I consider that a lack of logic hygiene.

I've shown you a Lancet article, arguably the preeminent medical journal in the world. And you've got no comments other than you're not interested and accusing me of being inconvincible. Sounds like a little projection going on your part.
Now to test out how to block on blue sky.

Protect Fauci from what?
November 23, 2024 at 10:10 AM
There's lots of stuff written up about Fauci. From the "he funded gain-of-function research therefore hang him because of his crimes to humanity", all the way to, "he's a hero for his work on HIV research".
So I'm wondering which documentation you are referring to and how reliable that is.
November 23, 2024 at 8:26 AM
As usual, no reference, just arm waving in general.
Thanks for the clarification.

Which is correct, SARS or COVID? I find the medical jargon confusing.
November 22, 2024 at 7:42 PM
Perhaps you could point to document that you have in mind? Otherwise, you are putting your reader in the position of guessing what you are referring to.

Thanks, I just listened to Macca's 2nd Nov interview with Dick Smith.
I was surprised to hear Smith supporting taking climate change action. Smith's main concern is about grid stability and compatibility between generators and renewables. Implying he's against climate change is misleading.

Just curious, but what do you believe AF's contribution was to "the HIV debacle"?
