If you make 130% of the federal poverty level, you qualify for SNAP.

A family of four, making $40,560, qualifies for SNAP benefits meaning thousands of Missouri teachers qualify.

I’m tired of the bullshit. Most of the people who receive snap benefits work.

The aws outage and canvas. The gift that keeps on giving. Still getting requests to take the exam late (due last Monday night) because “canvas is glitching”. So I don’t have any reason to accept the “canvas is glitching” story as 95/100 people successfully submitted the exam.

So canvas LMS. You’ve really, really screwed up with my classes exam due tonight. Fix this mess now. Less techbro posting and more work.

I dislike it that people can add things to my calendar that I can’t then modify. Even worse when they add something that causes the calendar to repeatedly crash. 😡🤬😡

I swear. Two monkeys on a weekend cocane bender could have designed a more functional airport than Dulles

You know it is the week before the beginning of the term when you start getting emails from administrators you have never heard of before with yet another mandatory thing you have to do with no release of anything to make it possible to do it. Time to retire.

The debate over a science only education is not new. It has been going on for a long time. This is the thought of one of the premier scientists of his time. I found this version free of a paywall.

As HHS Secretary Kennedy's speculations on autism take center stage, my column (still valid today) on likely causes:

Autism spectrum disorder is determined before birth by combinations of factors, mostly genetic. Recognized more today, so more commonly reported. www.nytimes.com/2014/03/30/o...

💯 this! #Science is a team sport - when under attack we urgently need to look out for each other, retain collegial networks and collaborations, and protect students and support staff. Merely finding new opportunities for the ‘big names’ will not do.

It’s Earth Day, and some of us have spent not just our careers but our whole lives loving + studying the Earth. It is not an easy time. But I hope you take a moment today to look at something beautiful, eat something delicious, squish someone you love, pet a dog, remember the nice parts. Yay Earth.

This is cool. The Guardian recreated a searchable climate future risk tool (wildfire, extreme heat, drought, hurricane, and coastal flood) for the US that was developed by FEMA but deleted by the Trump administration’s ‘climate’ purge.
Trump’s ‘climate’ purge deleted a new extreme weather risk tool. We recreated it

There are very few things in this world I know for sure anymore. When I started teaching in January, the textbook I always use for my class was $160 on Amazon. Used was over $100. I have always felt that this book was “ the Bible” and every geophysicist should have a copy.

Woke up after a crappy night sleep. Decided what I needed was a cappuccino. Made myself a nice cup. Sat down. The milk was spoiled. How’s your day going?
