My fave Netflix series of 2024 - 'Ripley' is full of Caravaggio references. You can see why someone (even fictional) would be fixated when you look at this detail from 'Judith Beheading Holofernes' from 1599. Just wow.

The only photo that exists of Van Gogh and Gauguin together. It was taken in Montmartre in 1887. Vincent VG is seated at the back smoking a pipe, and Gauguin is far right.

I appreciate that they've been a (minor) party in govt and that housing and cost of living are the big issues for young people, but it's still disappointing that only 4% of 25-34 year old Irish voters feel that the Greens have a message that might resonate with them. #election24 #ireland

It's 40 years ago today since my father Russel died. For a short spell he was a member of the council in #NewRoss, Wexford. He was on the council when Ted Kennedy visited. The town had a long Kennedy connection. By a strange quirk my father died on the same date - Nov 22nd- as #JFK had been killed.

I've gotta admit I'm really captivated ('enjoying' is not the word) by the interlinking series of novellas being published by John Boyne. Each of the books deals with aspects of the shadows that are cast by sexual crime - so it's not light stuff. But well told. Three down... one to go.
