I guess I’m finally making the move from Twitter 😅

Hey, bluesky! I’m Geoffrey, a sober vegan who takes the train and likes tall buildings.

Let’s talk transit, housing, human rights, Magic: the Gathering, and all things San Diego 💥

In #SanDiego, “The large package of updates...includes proposals to end free street parking on Sundays and to introduce demand-based variable pricing in some popular areas.”

Demand-based parking prices: good for city budgets, good for shoppers & good for business.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

America's second-busiest passenger rail line runs on a single track along crumbling Del Mar bluffs.

When these cliffs erode and trains slow down, it cuts off San Diego's only rail connection to the rest of the nation.

This affects everyone from commuters to cargo. 🧵1/4

Congress spends 6.4billion/year on their own operations.

NASA is not for sale.
The Post Office is not for sale.
America is not for sale.

Man, I hope they crash and burn and get annexed by the City of San Diego.

Local control is how we got into this mess.
State housing laws have Encinitas trapped in a corner, forcing the city to approve developments some residents don’t want.

The city’s mayor says it’s time to take this fight to the top.
Encinitas Mayor: Push to Regain Local Control Must Start at the State
The Encinitas Council recently moved another controversial housing project forward, but Mayor Bruce Ehlers says change must start at the top.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too.

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

Maybe I’m a bad urbanist but I just can’t get excited about battery buses. Oh, you’re telling me that the bus that comes in 26 minutes and misses my hourly train connection by 45 seconds is zero-emissions? Well then, glad we solved climate change, great job everyone, mission accomplished

Trump's election was not carte blanche for "let's have outright racists and Neo-Nazis at the highest level of American government." Republicans are overstepping.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I don’t mind people owning cars. What I do mind is the insistence that they should be allowed to leave them on publicly funded streets, while also demanding an excess of parking lots that consume finite urban space, sterilize our environment, and make cities more hostile to exist in.

The Elizabeth Line this year moved more people than the 18 lanes of the 401 freeway, the widest in North America.

Traffic is simply a geometry problem, and adding one more lane won't fix it.

House seats the GOP won by <2pts:
- IA-01, 0.19pts
- CO-08, 0.73pts
- PA-07, 1pt
- PA-10, 1.3 pts
- PA-08, 1.6pts
- NE-02, 1.9pts

Democrats needed to win 3 out of 6 of these to take control. As is, the GOP will hold the narrowest majority since at least 1931.
