Kanye / Clapton and Drake / Morrissey are so on the nose

Amongst the Labour-friendly types I know it’s not quite hatred, but way more than disillusionment: absolute fury and anger at how useless he is, how he’s done fuck all with his majority, how weak he is. But tbh Rage is just as negative at Hatred so he’s fucked either way.

Ranked choice be damned I want to know who the Condorcet winner is

There goes the chance of having 2 winners with a near identical opening. Also means of the original 11 Minneapolis entries, Just Be Good To Me is the last one standing and so Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis triumph over their former boss (& a last laugh - he sacked them for missing a gig while producing it)

Woah. Fully expected this to be a top 3 contender.

and then thanks to the ongoing post-2020 pollathon I've now had the chance to go back and do all the reappraising and relistening to pre-2001 stuff which is lovely.

2002-3 still mostly a black hole though

I was one of the idiots who thought 'they must have a plan, they're just keeping most if it quiet in case they get monstered by the press' only to find out that of course there really wasn't.

I had my entire CD collection burgled in 2001, and it was so traumatic I stopped listening to music for most of 2002-3. When I restarted, I decided the best way to deal with that loss was to look forward - and spent most of 2004-2020 listening to just new music.

Lots of stuff I disliked or skipped when I was in my teens I've come back to and reappraised as an adult with more diverse listening experience; but that happens much less after the fact for stuff that's been released since I've been an adult

My boyfriend has always been a loud Taylor hater came home last week and announced that finally she had released something he liked

lol those are the ones I'm least likely to add words, I'm just like surely everything that's been said has been said, we all know it's a banger, have ten points and then let's move along we haven't got all day to read takes

Poor Otis
November 14, 2025 at 1:59 PM
I nommed Aretha's 'Respect' which won the covers poll, & was just this morning considering nominating Adeva's cover for the next BPHM as that is first version I ever heard (and I still love it equally with Aretha's) & am also curious to see how it goes down with people who knew Otis / Aretha first

WHAT? There was a video all this time and it never came out?

This was my favourite discovery from the original This Is Uncool book, it's a delight

Just imagine how much more fun coronations would be with a big reveal at the end - will it be William? Or Olivia Colman? Or Alan Carr?
November 13, 2025 at 5:55 PM
I mean the king could learn a lot from that, don’t pass the throne to William, just regenerate as someone more interesting

Her first two albums are excellent, jam and Lewis honing their sound, you can completely hear the roots of Janet Jackson’s Control emerging over both
