The Wall Street Journal needs to issue a full retraction and apology to the trans community for this. Nothing less will suffice. They put us all in danger and recklessly put out incorrect information.

I wonder what this works out to per person deported, and if they might have just spared everyone a lot of grief by offering them cash: "Here's 500K and a ticket back to _________. " But... the point is to terrify, not to deport, so...

I’m sure there are people in LA who look like my frightening inlaws, but I never have to see them.

There’s joy in pulling up next to a truck at the intersection, blasting Chalino or maybe Fuerza Regida. What do I know, really? But it feels right.

LA is my adopted home. My half French, half US heart is still in N Africa. The land you were born in becomes another mother. I was born to colonial parents, but it was Libyan air, food, land that nourished me in the womb. I am made from Libya. I belong to her. But she doesn't belong to me. 6/7

Unlike the Norwegians, Germans, Russians, Swedes, etc. in the Dakota, the folks of “Mexican” descent living in LA are not alien to this place. This was Mexico before it was the US, and before it was Mexico, it was Indigenous land, as were all of the Americas, north, south, & central.
