I'm a huge audiobook guy but I decided to start reading all of my non-fiction books IRL. You know like with my eyes and a real book. Not gonna lie, I loved it! I loved the texture of the pages. Highlighting passages with a marker. It was great. Also a great book helps too!

I gave a talk at Handmade Seattle last year about why I think software gets complicated (spoiler: it's not laziness). www.youtube.com/watch?v=czzA...

This is something I've thought about for years and observed up close both in commercial and research contexts, so I hope you enjoy.

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.”

Risk Compensation (or Risk Homeostasis) is a fascinating concept. I first came across this when I heard that American Football and Rugby used to have the same equipment. When shoulder pads were introduced, the Rugby folks knew that would just mean harder hits...

It's hard to fathom this level of reverence science was given in the 1920s. Makes sense in a lot of ways. It was saving lives at an exponential rate as well as making everyday life easier. I don't think science has slowed down but it's more geared towards profits moreisdifferent.blog/p/a-pro-scie...

Imma need some of you to think about thriving out of spite. I had big plans for 2025 and I’m definitely not gonna pre-derail them for likes of Elin and Tromp. I’m getting more involved. Loving harder. Writing hornier. Having more fun. I’m gonna be so kind to my neighbors, bitch.
