Scientist, author, artist, madman. He/Him.

Creator of the comic 'Genocide Man', which is a celebration of life, believe it or not.

Day job is a calibration physicist for the USGS Landsat program. But here I'm mostly about art, writing, and politics.
Add this to the recent study that said that mRNA adjuvants had some action that suppressed cancer. These are looking like a new medical miracle.

I'm getting mRNA vaccines every year from now on.

And that's good! We should all be snobs. We should support the artists who are out-innovating the new AI age!

It's nothing like what you said. You said AI art would collapse because it sucks.

Pablum *is* pretty good. It's enough to sell. If 97% of everything is crap, it's the 96th percentile. Pablum is the history of most of TV and movies. We just remember the good ones. We never see the truly bad.

So the correct take on AI is to admit that it's pretty good pablum. Let the masses enjoy it. Then show them things amazing and better. Go crazy, push new limits in every art form, blow the masses' mind away.

Don't insist AI art is bad. The public knows it's the mix of all the art that came before.

The problem is that capitalism will latch onto cheap AI art because the public will buy it. But that's a problem with capitalism; chasing profit by any means instead of supporting producers or progress. As artists, we will always innovate faster than the AI -- because it is trained on us.

Just like John Campbell identified the Hero's Journey as an underlying story beneath many other stories, generative AI is pulling out the Ur-Art beneath art. It's the lowest common denominator. And that's not a bad thing. The public will like it. And we, as artists, will just *do better*.

It should be noted that none of these eight senators are up for reelection soon. That's how this works. Schumer gets his team together and gets a few to vote against everyone else, so most of the caucus keeps their hands clean. The leadership are the ones most responsible.

Barbecue is American. I'll put KC barbecued chicken against any other food, any day.

To expand on this, it's the whole idea of a bullet hose that appeals to me. Just point it at any target and get a super accurate stream of high ROF junk spraying at them...

...okay, that's not the most bisexual thing I've ever said but it's close.

Oh fuck, I feel seen. This is my favorite gun in online games.

Even more importantly, young people are *depressed* about the state of the world today. Depressed people buy themselves little pick-me-ups.

If anything, it's alarming that they're only buying pastry. That tells me they're so broke they can't afford clothing, cars, or puppies.

You might check out Christopher Kastensmidt's series, "The Elephant and Macaw Banner". It's set in colonial Brazil and chock-full of regional myths. He's done very, very well in South American publishing.

Thanks, I'll go research those now.

I'm just curious - can you name a point in the history of any country when an authoritarian tyrant was chased out by non-violent means?

'Single leg stand-up from a sitting position' was one of the most important physical therapy exercises I was assigned after my bout with COVID (which was far less serious than yours). It's great for improving balance and strength in muscles that I don't use while sitting at my desk.

Yeah, it's crazy that my graphic novel ended up being almost 500 pages. I don't think I *could* do that again if I tried. The energy of youth, I suppose.

Gruff Farmer: We've all done that, none of us are being dicks about it. Fuck off.

Guy: Well. Guess I've gotta become the villain, then.
