Six years ago, we lost five ash trees to infestation. They were like friends I saw every day. Provided safe harbor for wildlife, cooling shade, and beauty. I still miss them.

Volunteering at the forest preserve is always an adventure. Below zero windchills were no match for our giant brush piles we created over the past several months! Take that, nasty, invasive buckthorn, bittersweet, honeysuckle, and grapevine!

Pie number 2 is baking!
Contemplating making oatmeal raisin cookies, too. Should I? 13-14 guests. I’m also bringing fresh fruit.

First pie 🥧 is in the oven!
Please don’t judge my oven. It’s well-loved! 😂

Rosie having a pretty good day. She saw the light reflection from my phone and started chasing it!
First time I’ve seen that in a while!

More pictures. I could add a lot more, but you get the idea.
The trip from Chicago to Asheville was stunning! Autumn colors were really spectacular!

Dad and I road-tripped to North Carolina for my niece’s wedding. Dad held Babe Ruth’s bat! We enjoyed the gorgeous fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway and capped off our trip with a bonfire at our phenomenal Bnb!

I volunteer for the local forest preserve, removing invasive trees. Although it was in the 40’s this morning, it was a perfect day!
Get out there, my friends! ❤️🤟

Caught this cutie hiding a nut in the bushes below my balcony. Saw me and decided to find a new hidey spot!

Forest Park, IL No Kings March, a small suburb 3 miles from Broadview. About 400 strong. Lots of solidarity from passing cars!

Rosie looking all spooky and stuff.

Shit got real for me tonight. Dropped off my friend near Chicago and hopped on the Eisenhower, westbound. Traffic was unusually backed up leading to 25th. All exits, east and west, blocked at 25th. Above, at least a dozen police vehicles lining 25th. 25th leads to Broadview.
Police state.
Fuck.

Rosie is feeling much better today than she did yesterday.
Happy Caturday!

Way to go, Cubbies!

Enjoying “false fall”, as Mother Nature does not heed the calendar.
Rosie snoozing, a lupine bug that landed on my glasses, praying mantis egg sac we saved, and a Cooper’s hawk hunting squirrels.

Little Rosie is so exhausted after spending her weekend boarding at the vet.
She’s trying to stay awake, but she just can’t.
Sweet, sweet Rosie. 🥰

Mardi Gras morning glories are exploding now, finally! So pretty!

Walked in the woods today. Saw some wildflowers flowering, bees beeing, trees treeing, and leaves leaving. It was a lovely day.

Thank you! It’s a sliding glass door. I spend all summer training them to frame the door, using twine. Makes me feel like I’m entering my private garden!

The time of year when my morning glories are out of control, and Hummie is posing for pictures! Love my balcony garden!

Some day in the not too distant future, I’ll have to say goodbye to Rosie. The sweetest kitty I’ve ever known.
I cherish every second that she must be touching the mama. ❤️

My first day back volunteering at the forest preserve since I contracted Lyme did not disappoint! While removing giant invasive ragweed, we enjoyed observing wildflowers and butterflies, and snacking on wild blackberries.
What a delightful day!
