Beyond the optics of declaring the color of THIS/NEXT YEAR, SPECIFICALLY, to be white? It also underscores just how long bland minimalism has outstayed its welcome.

While I was never an LJ user, I did lurk there for several years (from around 2005 to a little before the Russia buyout, IIRC). I miss being able to do that, sometimes.

Yeah, that would probably do it. And now I have to wonder how that rule got overlooked if it's stated publicly (assuming good faith and that this WON'T turn out to be some forbidden-fruit scheme...).

My first thought was that a bubble mailer would be better if there's no smaller boxes, but there might be a reason why they couldn't use a mailer.

Wishing I could physically roll this thread up like newspaper and use it to smack everyone trying to tie this into porn purges (because that's the only form of censorship that matters, apparently).

I don't like to think that we're so removed from the '90s that no one knows or remembers what they were like. This wouldn't even pass for the first couple of months of 1990.

(And, arguably, more interesting than the canon version, in that we'd actually see the human cost of the Maverick Wars.)

I became even more leery of Megaman fans scolding each other for gaps in their knowledge of canon after that.

--and couldn't be repaired despite falling out of that Armour fully intact. From there, he concluded that Iris was not a Reploid, but disguised as one for her own reasons (and that she and Colonel had adopted each other as siblings).

Totally off, but a take made in good faith.

Most commenters reacted like this guy was trying to rile them up, but a few others--myself included--were just curious as to why he thought Iris (a Reploid) was human. Based on what he DIRECTLY OBSERVED IN-GAME: Iris was abnormally fragile, needed a Ride Armour to fight when no one else had to--

We were discussing previews of Project X Zone 2 that featured Iris post-X4 and trying to figure out what she was doing there when one fellow chimes in with this:

"What people fail to realize is that Iris was human. That's what makes [her story] so tragic."

Insert comedy braking-tires noise.

You would only know their backstory by reading a Japanese-only source book. A lot of MMX's finer details are only conveyed in source books, but I think this may be the most glaring example of such.

By 2012, we'd taken it for granted that Iris and Colonel's backstory was common knowledge.

Iris is the platonic ideal of the arbiter, and Colonel, of the soldier. These traits couldn't exist in the same being (by MMX logic)--and sure enough, trying to absorb Colonel's core after his death ends up killing Iris from cascading logic failures.

Thing is... this info is not in MMX4 itself.

I hear the term "video floor" and all I can think of is that thing physically breaking.

I would not be surprised if it turns out Vlad just wants a clean dataset, a la the new Vine both disallowing AI and being owned by a goddamn AI company.

I suspect that they'll only start treating Gen Z like people when Gen Alpha gets old enough to become the new Universal Scapegoat.

On top of this, every plugin designed to circumvent or mitigate the deluge of ads and slop inevitably breaks.

uBlacklist hasn't worked for me in ages--which sucks, 'cuz DDG's own anti-AI filters are borderline non-functional.
