Actually, a croc got him, but the idea still wins.

5 million coyotes

Winter solstice is near, and an old Chumash belief is that on that day the great gambling game is decided between Coyote and the Sun. If Coyote wins, it will be a wet year with much food. If the Sun wins, it will be dry and hot, with poor food. This is a "La Nina" year, so probably dry.

It sure attracted him!

Well said, and should be shouted from every rooftop.

absolutely. Latest is Luke Kemp saying in GOLIATH'S CURSE that we are hard-wired to go for power and abuse it. Phooey.

Very good article (yeah, I'm one of those two). I don't think either one is a strong candidate, and the Repubs will tar them with a California woke hot-tub-lounging latte-swilling brush.

Cute. Beneficial for your yard, too, since they eat gophers at an enormous rate.

A coyote should love that. I've never tried possum, but my dad grew up eating them in east Texas, and said they were awful. Gamey and greasy.

Yah, apparently it's now 6, 7

Wow--in fact Fleming's mordant cynicism was right on. All us hopeful idealists were showed up.

There are about 1 billion Muslims in the world, a few hundred of whom are terrorists and a few million are members of the more extreme sects. Same for Christianity, with its lunatic-fringe Christian Nationalists. I have had nothing but good experiences in over a year in Muslim countries.

The Heritage Foundation's fall from independent and valuable conservative think-tank to Koch playground to outright fascist hellhole (when even the Kochs got fed up with it) is appalling.

This outfit is an English site backed by a European funding body--don't know their sources, but Big Oil is obviously involved.

There isn't any question. It's greenhouse gases. It can only get worse. Even if we stop polluting, things will keep warming till CO2 etc are out of the air, which will take decades. We are in a bit of trouble.

Also near Constantinople was David the Dendrite, who lived in a tree (Greek "dendron"). You can see his picture beautifully painted in the Chora Church at the edge of the city.

Good article.

Golden retrievers are better than people anyway.

But stick to bird-friendly coffee. This is one place where a single individual can make a very visible and important difference. The difference is enormous and one coffee drinker really matters.
