Even if they seem open ended, you can leave them like that with an "open-ended ending" tag. Then say, "Might add more, but this is where it ends for now!"

You are in control of where things start and stop, even if the characters and your brain tell you otherwise.

BUT...I will never say no to additional epic sagas from your mind, lol. Not that i would ever say no to small one-shots or additional scenes, either.

"The power of Aunties" is still a great piece, along with "I might be who you're looking for".
And the college series, *chef's kiss*

That way, I give myself an out, as well. The readers (if there are any) know the story ends there, but if they get more, they'll be happy. If not, they can enjoy that snippet of the characters' lives.

For reducing the time, I usually deploy this when trying to do a monthly prompt challenge. Whatever that prompt is for the day, started and finished in a day.

Sometimes, I might go back and add more, but I make not they are for the challenge and this is it for the story currently.

I know this might seem counterproductive, but one way that i found to be able to write short stories is by either:

- Limiting them to that scene, with a start and finish, with a potential to add more later, or

- By reducing how much time spent I have on them.

Err, I think I worded that wrong, but hopefully my intention came thru!

"This is my favorite character, why didn't you out them in your fic??? No one ever puts all the characters in the tags, so you should have totally put this character in!"

Have you tried searching for that character in the tags instead of enjoying what you did read without them? Smh

Makes me wonder how silk underwear would actually be to wear...

Also, sometimes, when I see a fic that is long form that is M or less in ratings, I get disappointed. There are some fics that I wanna read, but my depraved mind gets disappointed before I can give it a chance. Which is a me issue, not the story/author.

As someone who has specifically searched for E rated stories, I know well enough to also check the word counts and the tags. Doesn't always work, but it's better than looking for "lemon" on other sites.

Based on this, my one fic (which doesn't have sex in it...yet), would be marked as E due to the violence.

But I think most people think of E as mostly sex related, tbh.

I know for a fact I have a fic out there that has something along the lines of, "It peaked his interest" instead of "piqued" lol.

My brain just thought, "Interest can't get higher than the peak of a mountain while on foot!"

Our weather in Wisconsin has been all over, too. One weekend it was 60s, no snow, then suddenly negatives and white. Now this whole week is supposed to be mid-30s.

So, I stated before that I had too many wips, which is still the issue, but I kept thinking of this. While it is not finished, and it is only about 5k words so far, would I have permission to post this story once it is finished and add you as the main source idea? Along with a link to this thread?

This is when you let yourself do things you normally wouldn't during work hours! Take a bubble bath, watch a TV show, relax with a drink in hand.

Hope you have an amazing break from work!

Immediately after the word, "Done!" to all the work you just mentioned, lol

Plot twist, everyone chipped in and killed Su She, but no one realizes it

NMJ kept killing those who talked to his brother inappropriately, or who pissed him off.

WWX needed bodies or went crazy.

LWJ needed an outlit.

LQR killed those who failed his classes 🤣

Really, anyone could do it. Just put "Anyone could die, not everyone will live" in the tags.
December 12, 2025 at 1:58 PM
You could write it from an outsider's perspective. Maybe a smaller character, or your own. Throw in the full cast of characters, and everyone is suspicious.

Best part, you could have anyone be the killer, really. LXC wanted to protect someone, and it got out of hand.
