That's totally fair! Audiobooks are a real asset! I've been listening to the series of books the Slow Horses series is based on with my partner and thoroughly enjoying it. Not as entertaining a delivery as the Harry Dresden audiobooks though.

Actually, in reading this I am reminded of some of what Viktor Frankl writes about in Man's Search For Meaning. A very different book and I have no reason to believe EA has read or is familiar with his work which makes the connection feel all the more significant and poignant

Sometimes authors can really deliver with subsequent books in these situations. I hope you enjoy the next one just as much!

I am saddened that this was so impactful because it highlighted to me that some self-identified #inclusive spaces are seriously lacking and no better than the people they stand against.

We need to be embodying our values and open to actual adult conversation if we want to get anywhere in this 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

As #LGBTQIA+ people and #allies we need to be standing up for human rights. We need to be holding the space for people to be people first and foremost. She is no more representative of gender critical people than a trans person who behaves abhorrently is representative of all other trans people.

I have recently stepped back from a group who didn't hold the complexity. We need to be able to acknowledge when individuals are behaving in harmful ways as their own entity and when their harmful behaviour is tied to and representative of wider ideologies and/or group attitudes.

They spoke about the abhorrent nature of her actions and also recognised that she has also done positive things for the rights of #women . They held the complexity of a human being who has done great things for the benefit and to the detriment of her fellow people.

I'm partway through reading too many books 😆 but looking to actually finish Refusing Compulsory Sexuality by Sherronda J. Brown before I then set my sights on finishing Decolonizing Therapy by Jennifer Mullan

This means that in order to actually begin #healing we can need to obtain a level of financial security that allows us the #privilege to pay for private #trauma-informed therapy. It's not as simple as choosing not to heal - it is sometimes the system not affording us #access to what we need to heal

For some of us, those free services actually cause more harm, traumatising us further because they #pathologise our valid identities and experiences. They're often either #medical model driven or are just ill-equipped to work with #diverse identities and #complex trauma.

Not everyone can access #trauma-informed therapy for free. I know that I certainly couldn't get the #therapy I needed through any of the free of charge options. I tried, but they were not fit for purpose and acted more like armbands keeping me afloat. I wanted to heal but the options weren't there

Emotions can be intense, scary and overwhelming while also containing important information we need to hear. If it's too much to bear on your own, having a #co-regulated and #co-regulating other with you can be all that's needed to make it possible
