I've tried to get friends who aren't as much into retro gaming to play some Wii U and it is genuinely difficult to get them accustomed to it because it feels old to them hahaha. Being retro is not just about game design changes but about changes in style and sensibilities

This is where your age is showing. As a resident young person, I'll tell you that the Wii U and even early PS4 feel very ancient and retro and like they wouldn't have been released today

Fun fact this got picked up as a budget release in Italy where they did an extremely small print of copies. Nowadays it's one of the holy grails of PAL PS2 collecting and it goes for absolutely insane prices. Like think of a price that'd be insane for PS2 Gun Club and quadruple it

Does it make sense to the reality of the Famicom library to divide it up between Showa and Heisai eras in Japan? Not really, but it makes sense for people so that's all that matters

I like to be the devil's advocate so: You can say the same about basically all human clasiffications, they're only as good as they help people divide reality in a way which makes sense, which consoles generations do quite well within the western gaming scene
