The UK did have one standout product that was considered globally valuable- universities- and unilaterally decided to stop providing the product because it was more important to be xenophobic than successful
The UK’s economic problems are quite deep-rooted. The best summary I can offer is “we don’t make enough valuable, productive stuff and sell it to the world any more”.
Things like planning and energy no doubt play a role in that - but I don’t think they’re enough to fix it on their own

Nothing is pre-social. We cannot study what our brains would be like in a vacuum, or an equal society. There is no meaningful way to distinguish which parts of our brains are inherent, and which have been pressured to develop that way due to the social worlds we live in.

The reporting re. Brianna Ghey in the last year has demonstrated that trans people cannot be the objects of sympathy - even when we are viciously murdered children. The object of sympathy in all of this reporting has been Brianna's cis mother, and her personal crusade against mobile phones.
In 2025, here have been 2 articles in the Times, Telegraph, Mail and Guardian (out of 169) that you could call 'positive' when it comes to trans people and both have featured the mother of a dead trans kid.
