I always put down a waterproof mattress cover, then a sheet, then a waterproof cover, then a sheet so in the middle of the night I could just peel off a layer and worry about resetting it in the daylight.
I might do the stitches on my own sheets, though. That’s smart.

When I had my first kid, they ran a titer test and it showed I didn’t have any immunity to rubella so I got the booster then. Maybe your doc can run that test for you to see if you need any other boosters while you’re at it. Before RFK takes them all away. :(
