I’ve been thinking about this today after spending almost 2 hours trying to draw a single pose sketch of a character… being able to tolerate the frustration and push through when it becomes hard (and it almost always does) is the main trait that you can develop to improve your art

I been invited to a friend's place and one kid was doing AI on their tablet. Told them that it's bad and the father asked me why. Explained and also said real art have more soul.
He wanted to make a dinosaur playing basket-ball, I drew this for him. They loved it so much, the dad paid me in the end

Well this is interesting, is it true it’s brain damage from stress? That kinda makes sense but how do you heal it though?
More to say on burnout and I'm probably going to boost it a few times because folks need to hear it:

It's an injury that needs to heal, not a weakness that needs to be pushed through.

And it can sneak up on you: things can seem stressful but mostly manageable until suddenly they're not manageable.
Self care and vacation are great, but they're guardrails: they don't help when you've already fallen in.
