Staircase workouts: as far as I can tell it is an 8 MET workout depending on how fast you go. Even a 2 story house gets you 16 steps. Most modern treadmills don't have sufficient elevations.

Still have the Sorels but have not had them on in a long time. I was anonymously memorialized in a book for wearing my Sorels to works every day in the winter in northern WI in the late 1980s....

Finally got some snow in Minnesota today. Before climate change it would snow from November to early March and the ground was covered during that time. That is no longer the case...

As I reassembled my entry way chairs this AM I was reminded of Pirsig's observation of his aging hands and the "feel" necessary to be a mechanic (in ZAMM). I succeeded in not stripping any bolts...

You can buy a single issue of the Economist on Amazon. I finally got this today. It is an accurate depiction of the American economy rather than the "gloom peddler" depiction. There is no bigger gloom peddler than Trump. Rather than a failed economy - it is his to ruin.

As part of my project to make psychiatry more biologically based - this 2024 book has a lot of potential. Introductory chapter describes the explosion of data questioning Weismann's barrier to environmental changes in germline.
