Curious as to whether you have researched clothes dryers at all. It was a missed opportunity for me. When mine went, I just replaced with an electric dryer. Didn’t do research on ventless. Was surprised at how much energy we were wasting just from creating negative pressure (pumping air outside)

I don’t agree with InsideEVs take. Foreign OEs have been destroyed in China by not adapting to local market needs. Honda won’t bring the S7 state side for the same reason. Selling a vehicle that fits the Chinese esthetic would be a death knell. I expect Honda to have similar specs on 0 series models

Honda says their customers are increasingly moving towards SUVs. I think Honda has lost some car drivers to Tesla over that span though. Lining up EVs should help. However, hard to knock Toyota’s hybrid strategy at this point.

LNG prices were considerably higher and fluctuated greatly until around 2010. Price dropped consistently for a decade. In 2010 my parents used heating oil, grandparents wood, I used a corn burner, and my best friend had baseboard heat. We all switched to LNG.

What is the recommended cleaning frequency for the filter? I have heard that a lot of people forget about leading to problems with functionality

Good luck with your water heater. That is is where I am likely going to need a panel upgrade. Sizing for heat pump would be the same as current A/C unit so it will not require more amperage.

Do you have a strategy for getting off gas completely? HVAC systems are switching off R410A in 2025 improving COP at lower temperatures. I think I will install a heat pump and heat pump water heater at the same time so I can cut my gas line. Columbia gas $700 annual hook up charge a factor.

As a parent, I feel like there is a script. Step 1: deposit tuition check. Step2: send out text requesting donation to annual fund. Step 3: send email to sibling asking them to join the home on the hill next year. All 3 steps in a one hour window.

Curious about the wind and solar uptick after 2021. Tariff related? Labor costs? Both? Something else? Both wind and solar are still seeing technological improvements that should have brought costs down by 8-10%. Don’t know why they increased by 40-50%.

I think his point is that with lithium accounting for 90% of the raw material costs, a sodium ion battery can be built significantly cheaper with a little research. Energy density not as good as LFP currently. So there is a clear path for home storage, (but not a good one for transportation).
