Who's headed to gwylcrimecymrufestival.co.uk in April? I'll be joining Graham Miller, @jamesoswald.scot & @davidpennywriting.bsky.social for a panel on creating authentic detectives that would actually pass police training. Trust me, real policing is dramatic enough without breaking all the rules 😅

The tragic death of Sussex Police Sergeant Ben Websdale really got to me. It made me reflect on why the ‘police family’ grieve those among them whom they didn’t know. I share some thoughts on this in my latest for the #Brighton Argus.

In this week's #Brighton Argus 'Bartlett on the Beat' column, I share my eye-opening visits to Frankfurt's 'Drug Consumption Room' in 2013 and 2014. What I witnessed there changed my perspective on tackling drug addiction. With #Glasgow now leading the way, is it time to reconsider?

I visited the beautiful village of Scorton where my grandparents used to live and we spent many a summer holiday. Wonderful memories swelled up (even of being thrown in the trough my the next door farmer for my cheek!) It’s hardly changed a bit and will always hold a special place in my heart.

As the five of us are together for Christmas Day for the first time in seven years, I thought I’d push the boat out and support our local butcher. Seems that a 10kg turkey and 4kg gammon may not have been strictly necessary! Good job A Twine Butchers of Hassocks talked me down a couple weight bands!
